The cultural celebration when the non-cartoon women and men are singing is a celebration of the Other. Also, the overly happy-go-lucky personalities of the friend from Brazil and from Mexico could be an over-exaggeration of the friendliness and “Good Neighbor” idea of Latin America. These displays of the Other is, according to Goldman, created for the “package and consumption” of Hollywood and the U.S. to show in their country and culture.

The Penguin Pablo is pursuing his “American Dream” and trying to go to where he thinks the world is better. The first time he tries to go, he freezes and is sent back home, the second time, the same thing happens. I feel that this shows the difficulties people face when trying to immigrate to the U.S. and how hard it can be. I also think it helps people understand South American geography. It also gives the audience a chance to learn and understand Hispanic language and culture. Relating these “documentaries” to another area of study I have, I do see that the story that the narrator tells could be a metaphor or imagery of people trying to enter the country and their stories sounding conflicting, or unbelievable, like when he cannot remember whether or not he was in the tree or saying he saw a flying donkey, for example.  I feel that the title portrays the movie in a way that shows there are three different “gentlemen” from three different places and they all learn from each other. Yet, part of me also wonders if they are saying that people categorize all Latin Americans as the same in the stereotypical outfits and how they are “birds of a feather.” One is from Brazil and has a very different culture than the one from Mexico, yet still they are categorized together.

To me, representation can be consumption because the way that we represent a person, or a culture, or a language, or a people, affects the way that people consume and analyze it. If media and movies portray a group of people as weak, the consumption and perception of the way those people are will be that they are weak. We also consume based on our perception on how we treat the people whose culture and language we consume.
